Thumbs up for authentic Chinese Food, not only the North American selections of Kung Pao Chicken and Chop Sui...! REAL Food prepared expertly and at good Value. You can taste and see the Chefs passion. Dim Sum would be nice. Servers need to be more seasoned and know the Menu. Rudy
I've been to many chinese resturants and this one is by far the best bang for your buck!!! The food is AMAZING! Ashley
best hot and sour soup ever but they don't like it when u ask for recipe substitutions!
My wife had a craving to get some Wonton soup for lunch and we had never tried this restaurant before. They had several on the menu and my wife ordered the Wor Wonton. It was a gigantic serving and the waitress asked if I wanted to share. I ordered off the lunch specials, Kung Pow Chicken, which also was a great amount of food, although I made a great dent in it. My wife commented after eating half of her serving that it was better than she had been imagining and I also really enjoyed my meal. She ended up with 2 containers of soup for tomorrow and it was all for under $30. A great lunch, nice service and we'll definitely be back.
This is by far the best chinese in nanaimo. Congratulations... I'm hoping they have dim sum on the weekends... I'll let you know how great it is!
Excellent, on a casual basis. Little pricy but worth it. their seafood dishes could do with a little more seafood in it for what you will be paying for.
Hi, I was just happened to look up on their phone number. For the comment that is below me, I think you were making stuff up because IronWok doesn't open on Monday. Good try, Plantain.
My hsuband and I went to the Iron Wok last night. This was not our first visit, but each time it went downhill and last night was the worst. The service was mediocre...food was slow...below average won ton soup...I ordered Prawns & Vegetables in Birds Nest (they were out of Birds Nests) that came with a nondescript, brown, tasteless, gravy type of sauce. My husbands meal came with the same awful sauce. Our waitress was rarely seen and we certainly weren't asked for refills of coffee or how our meals were. On the way home my husband was sick to his stomach and ended up losing his dinner on the side of the road. Never again !!
Nice ideas to share food portion is huge, the new style of the sweet sour pork of hongkong style is great Sizzling platters in the back is recommanded.just one thing- no desert
best Chinese food in town
Must have been a very off day, but my husband and I went there last year and ordered several different dishes, including sweet and sour shrimp... and every single dish had absolutely NO flavour to it at all. I was so disappointed. I have never been picky in fact, I am the one who always ends up eating everyone else's food when they don't like it. I appreciate all kinds of flavour. But I could not make myself eat so much completely flavourless foor. The appetizers looked so good, visually, but when we started to eat them, they had no taste at all. I understand that salt should be used in minimal quantities, but maybe a bit of it would have made the food more palatable. It was like drinking solid water. My husband's stir fry tasted like vegetables and pasta. I mean it. I mean, how can you mess up anything with sweet and sour sauce?? The sauce was the only thing I could actually taste -- but it was like pouring sauce in deep-fried airballs. Sorry for being the only negative review, but I am just wondering if we were the only ones to get such a rotten deal.
Well, The food is GREAT. It's closed on Mondays that sucks. It takes awhile sometimes to get your meal, but worth the wait. Three and a half thumbs up...
This restaurant is absolutely unbelievable! The food is excellent and the portions extremely large. It outshines any Chinese restaurant I've ever been in and I've been in many. I highly recommend it. We'll be going back on a regular basis!
The best Chinese restaurant in Nanaimo... only complaint, small menu...could use some lettuce wrap, rock salt & pepper squid, things that are a little more authentic.
Just so good. Finally one of place for dinning out in Nanaimo. Love it.
While the customer service was excellent, the patio furniture could use an upgrade from faded green plastic seating to something more in harmony with the inviting decor of the dining area inside. The dishes we ordered were flavourful and pleasantly displayed and pricing was most reasonable. We do hope the extreme lack of beer selection was truly momentary - it became comical to hear the server repeating to other guests that the restaurant needed to place a liquor order - 3 out of 4 beers (listed on the menu) that we requested were not available. The couple behind us requested a bottle of wine and were told it is only sold by the glass. Some good and some not so good points. All in all, I would rate the Iron Wok BBQ Restaurant as Fair - sorry folks - the overall experience needs improvement.
